1. God chose Joseph to be a leader. Joseph's older brothers were angry and envious of Joseph and nearly killed him. But they decided they could profit more by selling him to be a slave in Egypt. In this interesting message, Tom relates how we need to be careful not to resent those who God may have appointed to be leaders over us. Recorded Sunday, January 10, 1999. |

2. In today's episode of Joseph, he arrives as a slave in Egypt and is very successful in all his work because the Lord was with him. So successful that that the Captain of the Guard in Pharaoh's house put him in charge of most of his affairs. It's a good thing that Joseph was "practicing the presence of God", for being well built and handsome, he caught the attention of Potiphar's wife. He was able to resist her repeated advances, and at last had to flee when she became aggressive. Falsely accused of attempted rape by her, he ends up in jail. But even there he is successful, being put in charge of all the prisoners. Recorded Sunday, January 17, 1999. |

3. Do you ever feel like you have been forgotten or abandoned? Joseph was in prison under false accusations. God gave him the ability to interpret dreams, but when he interpreted Pharaoh's Butler's dream, the butler forgot to return the favor of recommending Joseph's release. January 31, 1999. |

4. Have you ever suffered for doing the right thing? Joseph was in jail for this reason, and remained two more years even after interpreting two top officials' dreams. However, in God's timing, Joseph was called on to interpret Pharaoh's dreams, which predicted seven years of good crops followed by seven years of severe crop failures. Pharaoh made Joseph the Prime Minister of Egypt. September 5, 1999. |

5. Before a person can be useful to God for service, God must first work on the person's conscience. Joseph's brothers, starving due to a severe famine, traveled to Egypt to attempt to buy grain. Little did they know that the Prime Minister of Egypt was their brother, whom they had sold into slavery years earlier. Based on Genesis 42. January 2, 2000. |

6. The Characteristics of a Good Leader. Desperate for food but fearing for their lives, Joseph's brothers return to Egypt to purchase more grain. Based on Genesis 43. Edited. January 9, 2000. |
7. Joseph tests his brothers to see if they are now committed to each other. Genesis 44. January 16, 2000. |
8. How do we respond when someone comes to us and says "I'm sorry…"? Here we see an example of true forgiveness, when Joseph finally reveals to his brothers that he is the brother that the others had sold as a slave. Genesis 45:1-13. January 23, 2000. |

9. Have you ever told someone "I forgive you," but later realized that you still feel "on edge" around that person? After the death of Jacob, their father, Joseph shows true forgiveness to his brothers -- even though his brothers had intended to kill Joseph when they were young. Tom Marinello presented this message based on Genesis 50 on March 26, 2000. |
